In the middle of the forest lived three bears: great big Papa Bear, middle-sized Mama Bear, and the little Baby Bear. One morning their breakfast porridge was still too hot. 'Let's take a little walk,' rumbled Papa Bear, 'until it cools down.'
Along came a girl with golden curls, and she found the bears' house. She knocked — nobody home. And because the door was ajar and it smelled so deliciously of porridge, Goldilocks simply slipped inside. Which, of course, she should not have done.
On the table stood three bowls. The porridge in the big one was too hot — 'Ouch!' The middle one, too cold — 'Brrr!' But the porridge in the smallest bowl was just right. And — whoosh — it was all eaten up.
Then Goldilocks tried the chairs: too hard, too soft — and the smallest one? Just right! But — crack — it broke to pieces. Sleepy now, the girl climbed the stairs. The big bed: too hard. The middle bed: too soft. The smallest bed: just right. And Goldilocks fell fast asleep.

When the bears came home, Papa Bear rumbled: 'Someone has been eating my porridge!' Mama Bear: 'Mine too!' And the little bear squeaked: 'Mine is all gone — and my chair is broken — and in my bed … there's somebody sleeping!'
Goldilocks opened her eyes, saw three bear faces above her — and dashed down the stairs and all the way home as fast as she could. There she told her mama everything. The next day she brought the bears fresh porridge, a little pot of honey, and helped mend the little chair. And so three bears and one curious girl became friends after all.
